Entry requirements & APS
UCT uses a Faculty Point Score (FPS) rather than a standard APS, calculated from your NSC percentages in six subjects (excluding Life Orientation), with faculty-specific weightings.
- A National Senior Certificate with a Bachelor's degree pass.
- English at the level required by your chosen faculty (usually Home or First Additional Language, level 5+).
- Mathematics (not Mathematical Literacy) for commerce, science, engineering and health sciences programmes.
- Faculty Point Score above the published minimum for your programme — competitive programmes score well above the minimum.
- National Benchmark Tests (NBTs) and, for some programmes, a portfolio or additional assessment.
